Stories and Recollections

Although the inital project of documenting memories from Granby Primary School has now almost drawn to a close, I have had many people come up to me to mention that their friend or neighbour was in Aylestone or at Granby during World War II and there are more memories to be shared. I have set up this space to include more memories as they come in…

At the Granby School Fete I met Rev Rowena Bass our local vicar who told me she had spoken to a member of the congregation about the project, a lady called Hazel Spence. Hazel who has recently passed away mentioned that she could see the glow of the coventry bombings growing brighter and brighter from her back bedroom in Church Street, it went on for hours.

Please do get in touch if you have memories to share I’d love to hear from you!
